Pemberton & Holt was founded in 1998 by two lawyers who believed clients deserve direct access to their file and honest answers about cost. Our team of eight includes a certified family law specialist alongside practitioners experienced in real estate, wills, corporate work, and immigration. We serve clients across Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. People stay with us because we return calls, explain every step in plain language, and never bill for time we did not earn.

- What does a free initial consultation include?
- We spend 30 minutes reviewing your situation, identifying any immediate legal concerns, and explaining what an engagement would involve. There is no charge and no obligation. Everything you share is confidential from the moment we speak.
- How do you structure your fees?
- Fees vary by matter type. Real estate closings, wills, and incorporations are offered at fixed rates quoted in writing before work begins. Litigation and family law matters are billed hourly with a detailed retainer agreement. Personal injury cases are handled on contingency.
- Do you represent clients outside Ottawa?
- Yes. We regularly act for clients across Eastern Ontario and, for federal matters such as immigration, across Canada. Many steps can be handled remotely through our secure document portal so geography is rarely an obstacle.
- How quickly can you act on an urgent matter?
- We keep capacity for urgent situations. Emergency motions, injunctions, and time-sensitive property closings are handled promptly. Call our main line and tell the intake team it is urgent; we will reach a lawyer to speak with you the same day whenever possible.
- Is my matter too small for a firm like yours?
- No. We handle straightforward wills, small-business incorporations, and modest real estate transactions alongside complex litigation. Every client receives the same level of care regardless of file size. If a matter is outside our focus areas, we will refer you to the right practitioner.
